Polyphenols Biotech enables R&D teams developing polyphenol-rich products to benefit from high-quality natural extracts, to ensure the active ingredient content and stability of their products, and to demonstrate the natural properties of their ingredients.

Created in September 2004, POLYPHENOLS BIOTECH handles R&D programmes for SMEs and major groups, from simple analytical services to research projects aimed at developing new products. As an interface between university research and industry, POLYPHENOLS BIOTECH provides companies with access to large-scale, high-performance research resources and recognised expertise in the analytical characterisation of polyphenols.

Example of application

To carry out the studies entrusted to it, a scientific team experienced in biotechnology and the chemistry of natural substances manages the R&D programmes in complete confidentiality, drawing on the scientific resources of an expert university laboratory, the GESVAB (Groupe d'Etude des Substances Végétales à Activités Biologiques).

Our expertise lies in the extraction and purification of natural substances, the valorisation of industrial by-products from the wine industry and the evaluation of the biological properties of plant extracts.

  • Nutrition and health (dietary supplements, dietetic products, phytotherapy)
  • Food (functional foods, beverages, fruit and vegetables)
  • Viticulture and oenology
  • Animal nutrition
  • Biotechnology
  • Alternative crop protection products

In plant analytical chemistry:

  • Qualitative and quantitative analysis of polyphenols in a raw material,
  • Stability monitoring of polyphenol-based formulations
  • Development of analytical methods and transfer to industry
  • Development of extraction processes on a semi-preparative scale
Custom purification from crude extracts, purified fractions or pure molecules

Human health

  • Study of the antioxidant properties of plant extracts (in vitro and in cellulo tests)
    Study of anti-inflammatory properties

In plant biotechnology

  • Development of plant cell suspensions for cosmetic applications
  • Evaluation of leaf stilbene levels in grapevines as markers of stimulation of natural defences...
