This summer school, is organised by the University of Bordeaux and Hochshule Geisenheim University in the frame of the Franco-German doctoral college program « Climate change impact and sustainability in special crops and their products “certified by UFA CDFA-03-18 (French German University).
This summer school provides participants with scientific insight regarding French viticulture and oenology challenges, with a focus on strategies to improve vines and wines sustainability in order to address environmental issues such as climate change and food security. It is open to third year Bachelor students as well as first and second year Master and PhD students with a background in biology, viticulture, oenology, agronomy, environment, chemistry, microbiology, economy, …
During the week session, students will learn in a variety of ways thanks to:
- laboratory and practical sessions;
- experiences of agricultural reality, with visits of research laboratories, wineries, farms, greenhouses, breeding companies, wine estates, etc.;
- exchanges with pioneering scientists in the fields of life sciences, viticulture, oenology and agriculture.
The participants of the summer school can benefit from the integrative education programme (theoretical classes, practical experience and site visits) to discover currents and future challenges in vines and wines sector. Moreover, mix of local and international students provides further insights into the wine sector and cultural diversity.
