The WINTOUR Masters is an Erasmus Mundus-labelled Masters programme coordinated by the Rovira i Virgili University (Tarragona, Spain) in partnership with the University of Bordeaux and the University of Porto (Portugal).

This course specialises in innovation in the wine tourism sector. Taught in English, this master's degree takes advantage of 3 UNESCO World Heritage regions with a strong tourist industry and a long tradition of wine production. This course prepares future multi-skilled and qualified professionals in tourism and the wine industry who will bring added value to this growing and recognised sector.

Combining a very strong professional network and high-quality theoretical and practical training (with a range of field experiences), this master's programme comprises one semester taught at each university in the consortium, and concludes with a work placement. WINTOUR has been awarded the Erasmus Mundus label and has been receiving funding since September 2016.

Professions concerned

The WINTOUR Masters programme will enable students to acquire a basic knowledge of the sciences (wine-making), applied tourism (development of new methods in tourism) and management.
The aim of the programme is to provide multi-disciplinary training and to award a diploma to qualified students who are capable of mastering a brand new profession in the wine sector and making it their own.
Skills acquired

The WINTOUR programme entitles students to 120 ECTS over two years and four semesters.

The first three semesters are taught in turn at the 3 universities involved in the programme: Rovira i Virgili University (Tarragona), Bordeaux University (ISVV) and Porto University. The final semester is devoted to the work placement, which must be carried out with the project partners, most of whom work outside the university environment.

The teaching programme includes modules on wine tourism and wine marketing, wine-making and wine heritage. Three types of internship are offered during the course (in wine-making, wine tourism and wine marketing) with non-university partners who play an active role in the students' training.

Details of the course units are available on the official Master Wintour website: http://www.wintour-master.eu/en/what-is-wintour/structure-curriculum/
